Yes it is a snapshot view.I have checked out file shown in red, but checkin option is disabled, also there is no change indicator on the left bar as well

I would put icons vertically (including override and inherits) instead and make struts asterisk icon smaller. there is always plenty of vertical space in this case (class and methods declaration). ...

May it is just better to put button on the left bar that can be pressed/depressed because closing pane creates another button bar that takes even more from the screen estate. There is very good UI...
