Using the 676 build on Suse 8.0 with KDE 3.0.5 I also get this.It's counter-intuitive and I agree with you that it's annoying.(The same applies e.g. to selecting the folding actions)

Looks like 2.6 keys with Ariadna expire on 1st Jan 2003 starting with build 670 - so I'd hold off making any purchases until they announce the upgrade path.
