what made it work for me is adding the option AND setting it to true: `-Djsse.enableSNIExtension=true`.

same platform, same here. Hardware: I7 (8 cores hyperthreaded). With the ActivityMonitor I see that Idea maxes out all 8 cores all 1 to 3 seconds while typing.
