Thank you Olga Mulina - that was it! I think due to having earlier installed EAP version, my settings were not transferred automatically to the settings folder of the new version.

From what I have checked, restarting the Typescript service takes about the same time. This is probably because `tsc` type checks need to run from scratch in either case because of config change.

Same issue for me - WebStorm on Windows - any *.md file would hang the IDE if Markdown plugin is enabled.
