Can you try running Flask from the command line, outside of PyCharm? Also, make sure the interpreter used in the Run Configuration matches what you expect.

Sure, go to <your distribution>\helpers\pydev\ and find all the pydev*so binaries, then delete them.

It worked ok with me on PyCharm 2016.3, macOS, Python 3.6, and unittest. Screenshot attached. We've reworked our test runner support in 2017.1...perhaps you could try the EAP?

Right, unfortunately PyCharm's logging facility isn't the right tool for the job. It's is purely about the execution of a run configuration.
