It appears that you have to add any sub-schemas in the 'Data Sources and Drivers' window. To access this screen follow these steps: ctrl + alt + shift + s to open the window select the data source...

Additionally I can't seem to set control + shift + command + B to anything.

Adding the VM argument also fixes this issue for intellij idea 2017.2.1 Additionally I still had to set the font size in Settings | Appearance & Behavior | Appearance and I also set the editor font...
