It's not a problem with hardware.  I'm looking at the activity monitor and pycharm is taking up between 100 to 300% of the CPU.  Is this normal?  I need to get that number down.

i got it working. i updated the plugins then restarted.  that solved it.

Also I was able to find some of my old pycharm folders and I noticed that they have this .idea folder whereas my current one does not.  Might this be a cause of some of the problems?

ok, I was able to add the /Library/frameworks/python3.6 etc folder to my content root and that solved the problem.
