I was wondering if preview pane is empty on every reStructuredText file you are trying to open. Anyway, would it be possible to share one of the affected files?

Please try changing "Settings/Preferences | Editor | General | Appearance > Levels to highlight" to "1": Does it look like what are you looking for?
