It seems to be an intermitten issue. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Could the custom theme be the issue? I'm using the material theme.

This must be it. It allows editing the files only if smaller than 16KB. I've upped the limit and will see how it behaves.   Thanks!

Thanks! This seems to do the trick. Also, I guess once I switched to Sublime keymaps I got the functionality I needed :)
