Unfortunately I can't update on my own as the IDE is managed by the company. Is there a way I can use the bookmarks as a tool window or something that is not a modal in this version?

I have not installed any plug-in to handle log files, it's only what comes with the IDE. I just double click on it to open, in the project tool panel.

It is a .log file created by slf4j logger.

Thanks Serge, template project worked. There were problems with different JDK versions and JavaFX SDK dependencies. After I figured them out the second issue was fixed too.
