Thanks @...! In my case I was unable to enter a backslash "\" with the default key-combination Shift+Alt+7. Disabling "Use national layouts for shortcuts" in PHPStorm did solve that problem for me....

Okay, I've found it. As obvious as it now seems, it kept me busy for a few hours: In all File Watchers UNCHECK "Auto-save edited files to trigger the watcher". For obvious reasons :)
