I promise xdebug.remote_enable=1 in my config before posting above message. I added it again and then it said the IDE KEY had problem. So I set xdebug.idekey=PHPSTORM ... and now it works like magi...

Have already tried that, @Michael. Just want to get back to the original view where I only see the database name and tables.

Oops! Looks like the fix was easy. If you're on Mac, press:-   Shift + Command + 8 and phpStorm will get back to normal selection. :-)

Update:  I noticed that the variables are shown at the top when I'm editing a wordpress 'plugin' file. But when I'm editing a 'theme' file, the variables get arranged alphabetically.  Not sure what...
