GoLand startup: Cannot open remote development project by default

Question

Is it possible to configure GoLand to open a remote development project by default at startup, instead of displaying the local projects tab? Can GoLand automatically reconnect to my most recently used remote development project on launch?

Answer

At present, GoLand does not provide a setting to open a remote development project by default when starting the IDE. The IDE Welcome screen always displays the Projects tab upon launch. The Reopen projects on startup option (Settings | Appearance & Behavior | System Settings) applies only to local projects and does not reopen a remote development project automatically.

A feature request has been submitted to add the ability to reconnect to the last remote project on startup, as well as to select the default tab for the Welcome screen. Track progress or vote for this feature in IJPL-259323.

As an alternative, use JetBrains Toolbox App. Its remote development view displays recent remote projects, allowing you to open a remote project directly, bypassing the GoLand Welcome screen. For steps, see the Toolbox App documentation.
