Copy paste multiple consecutive blank lines from console output

When there are multiple consecutive line breaks in the console output, copy paste stripes the extras

For example if I run:

And try to copy this, what goes to my clipboard is 

a
b
a
c

with no extra spacing between the lines.

How can I copy and maintain those extra lines?
