IntelliJ Debugger not working in certain code paths

Hello,

I'm attempting to set some breakpoints in some code, but interestingly when I attempt to hit those breakpoints a different way my webapp just keeps spinning and will continue spinning until I stop the debugger - then the page loads.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
