IntelliJ no syntax highlighting

I have checked all the previous posts in attempt to solve my problem but nothing is working. I recently installed IDEA Community on OSX 10.11.6, and none of my files are being highlighted, I only get two colours. What I have tried:  File -> Invalidate Caches, File -> Power Save mode, looked at file types, clean uninstall and re-install. Disabling some suggested Plug-Ins that previous posts had issues with (I did not have any of those Plug-ins).

I cannot figure out what is going on, please help
