Shared *default* run configuration

Is there a way to share *default* run configurations across a team?

For non-default run configurations, I can check a box that says "Share" to add the configuration to source control. That checkbox doesn't appear for default configurations. This is an intentional limitation (see https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/2017.1/run-debug-configurations.html#d955e926 - "This check box is not available when editing the run/debug configuration defaults.").

Is there any way to work around that?
