webstorm 2017.1 (subscription based) on Mac osx Sierra application always not responding & unusable. Useless now

Have been running into this issue for last 2 or 3 weeks.   After 10 minutes shows JVM Memory settings dialog.   For a year or so I was running with 512MB (mx).   I did increase it to 1 GB, 2GB didn't make any difference.   Now after launch of the webstorm I can't interact with anything and see a busy cursor.   I tried uninstalling it and downloaded a newer one.  Didn't make any difference.

Any help is appreciated.
