IntelliJ Not picking up my sdk

I recently restarted my computer that applied some update to my intelliJ and reset all of my settings.  Now, every declaration of an external dependency is red saying it 'cannot resolve symbol'.  I have tried invalidating cache and restarting,  reimporting maven, adding the correct jdk 8 version, and reinstalling intelliJ.
