Pycharm becomes unresponsive with keyboard

Hi, I would like to report an issue I have with Pycharm:

Some times it becomes un responsive to the keyboard when I try to create a new document within the project. Therefore, I have to close the program and open again the whole project. There are no error messages and no way to track the error, it just does not let me type anything in the program window. However, I can still manipulate the project with the mouse, so is not a freeze problem is more in regards with keyboard un responsiveness.

This is the info of my machine/software:

PyCharm 2017.2

Build #PY-172.3317.103, built on July 25, 2017
JRE: 1.8.0_152-release-915-b5 amd64
JVM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM by JetBrains s.r.o
Linux 4.4.0-91-generic

Hi Omar, the problem sounds similar to IDEA-78860. Could you please try workarounds posted there?

  • Either upgrade IBus to version 1.5.11 or add "export IBUS_ENABLE_SYNC_MODE=1" to your ~/.profile, then restart a session.
  • Alternatively, you can turn off IBus at System Settings | Language Support | Keyboard input method.

I have the same issue. ibus version installed is 1.5.17-3ubuntu, so there's no upgrading to be done.
