Git Version Control Plugin Stuck

I've recently setup git to work with plink.exe as the default ssh client by pointing the environment variable GIT_SSH to it. This was so I could use git through the command line without having to punch in my credentials each time to push/pull. Ever since that change, WebStorm's Git VCS integration is in this continuous "updating..." phase. 

 

I have tried:

  • Disabling/Re-enabling the Git integration in WS (WS restarts in between changes)
  • Setting/Unsetting the GIT_SSH environment variable (WS restarts in between changes)
  • Toggling between SSH native/built-in options in WS (WS restarts in between changes)
  • Verified this is not a repository specific issue by cloning a new project from Github (through the WS intro dialog) and seeing the same stuck VCS integration.
  • Verified this is not a git specific issue by committing/pulling/pushing through CLI across different projects.

You guys think I should try reinstalling WS?

System: 
Windows 10 64-bit

WebStorm 2017.2

Java 1.8 64-bit

Git 2.14.1

Bit the bullet and just reinstalled WebStorm and it fixed the issue. I hope this helps someone else in the future.

Disappointed to say it's the only thing that worked for me too, and that's nearly 3 years later, on mac v2019
