Intellij hangs during call hierarchy

Whenever doing a call hierarchy Intellij without warning hangs indefinitely forcing me to kill it rather than be able to recover it.
Is there an option that I can configure which defensively approaches call hierarchy and aborts as soon as it reaches its resource limit?

Please see if it works in the current version available at http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html. This issue may be already fixed.
this still happens with 2017.2.5. In fact if anything I'd say it's worse than it used to be.
