IntelliJ IDEA starts, but never draws anything but the window outline

I'm a little at a loss about how to figure this out. Intellij IDEA was working; I imported a different project from source control and now when I try to start it, I get a window border with my desktop background in it.

I have multiple monitors, but the particular monitor I'm in doesn't seem to matter.
It appears to be the same thing. Switching to an Aero theme works. Not my favorite thing to do, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The solution is to install Windows Update which fixes the problem, see the ticket for details.
I'll forward your advice onto the IT department
