'find in path' window doesn't appear

Windows 10 64 Home latest

Webstorm 2017.2.4

Hi,

I am new to Webstorm, when I tried to search all files by 'ctrl + shift + F', the 'find in path' window doesn't always appear, but 'edit - find -find in path' will do, so I tested my keyboard, the keys are all works fine, and it should be, because sometimes it works.

I really do not understand why sometimes works while sometimes not.

I had tried 'invalidate cache and restart', did not help.

And what is the right way to use 'find in path' window if there are certain rules?

Thank you.

Hi there,

Please try assigning another (additional) shortcut in "Settings/Preferences | Keymap" to see how stable it will be working.

Note: there is "find by shortcut" button (next to the search field) so you can find the right action faster... it also lets you to test if shortcut gets recognized by IDE.

Right now it might be (generally speaking, of course):

  • keyboard issue (one of the keys might be damaged so it's not always registers .. or low battery in case of wireless)
  • you may have some global hook on that shortcut by some 3rd party app (e.g. back in time of PhpStorm v3 or so it did not worked for me because Miranda IM was using it for own purposes)
  • you may have more than one action assigned on that shortcut ("who will get it first" order is not guaranteed)
