Conflict with GNOME Ctrl+Shift+U shortcut for unicode char
Answered
Hello, I am using IntelliJ IDEA 2017.2 on Fedora 26 with the GNOME desktop, and in many applications I often use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+U~[unicode codepoint]. But it does not work in IDEA, even after I removed the three Ctrl+Shift+U shortcuts in the Settings. Is there a way to make it work ? It's really a feature I use a lot. Thank you

Does it work in other Java Swing applications like NetBeans or JEdit?
Thank you for your answer! I have just installed NetBeans and JEdit to try, and it does not work either. But I found something interesting : on another machine which still has a slightly older system and is not up-to-date (Fedora 25, kernel 4.10.14, openjdk-1.8.0.131, GNOME 3.22.2), it does work. So it must be something that changed recently, and it does not seem to be the upgrade of IDEA itself, since I tried 2017.1 on both systems and the shortcut works on one but not on the other.
I'm seeing the same problem with Ubuntu 19.10 and IntelliJ 2019.3. It was working fine a few months ago, so I'm not sure whether it was the upgrade from Ubuntu 19.04 to 19.10, or the upgrade from Intellij 2019.2 to 2019.3 that did it (I suspect the former, especially in light of @...'s comment).

To check this, could you try switching JBR to build 1586.16? See manual on how to switch: https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/206544879
