IntelliJ Idea key bindings not working

Answered

I'm running KDE Neon (Ubuntu 16.04) on a Dell laptop.  The key binding are not working correctly. I have tried changing the key mapping profiles, selecting a different keyboard profile and read over https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/207018915-Keyboard-shortcuts-not-working- but wasn't able to find a solution.

The key bindsing for ctrl-c, for instance, deselects text if highlighted, if not text is highlighted, the key combination switches to insert (like the insert key) but doesn't toggle back. Can't tell what ctrl-v does, shift+left/right arrow to highlight instead moves to the start/end of the word.

You can try to reassign the actions to the keys as they are recognized on your system in the Keymap settings. Add keyboard shortcut, press the key and see how IDE recognizes it.

Thanks, I also just noticed that ctrl-z works fine.  ctl-shift-alt-+  worked as copy.  For now I'll just reassign normal copy/paste/find to ctrl-shift-c/v

Hello! I'm using the 2017.2.5 version and having the same issue. It looks like the IDE is not recognizing some keys. For example, F9 has been assigned to specific action, but now it opens up the Windows menu. When I try to reassign it the Windows menu opens again when I press it. Same for a lot of keys and combinations. Most of the combinations are broken or not even functioning.

Some of the actions may be already taken by your OS: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-55796.
