Intellij Idea Android support

I switched from Android Studio to Intellij Idea and I'm considering buying the commercial version. However, I find that Idea lags behind Android Studio in one of the projects I'm working on. The AS project uses gradle 3.0, which Idea doesn't seem to support yet. What can I do to use Idea in a project that uses the latest tools that AS uses? For now, I have switched back to Android Studio in that project.
