project folder suddenly closes
When I open a project and make a change to a file, the change is saved. However when I navigate away from PhpStorm (say to Firefox) and navigate back to PhpStorm, the files I had open suddenly close and the project folder collapses. I've had this problem before and can't remember how I fixed it. :-/

For timely replies and updates, you should've submitted this via Help > New Support Request.
As for an issue - are you working with files located on a network share? Do you have any antiviruses installed?
Hello Dmitry and thank you for getting back with me. I realized after I submitted my question here that I should have done so via the path you suggested (New Support Request). I'm working with them now to resolve the issue, however to answer questions.
1.) I am working with files located on a network share.
2.) I do not have antivirus installed.
Note: I am able to work with other phpStorm projects with no problems.

That is the reason you're seeing this issue.
We don't support working with remote sources directly. Please consider using a deployment configuration instead:
