Various issues with IntelliJ 14.1.7: menu does not work, cannot obtain permanent license

Answered

I have two computers: MacBook(OS X El Capitan 10.11.6) & iMac(macOS High Sierra 10.13.2)

Earlier I used to run a commercial licensed copy of Intellij(14.1.7) on MacBook and it used to run well. Now I am using the same license server in IntelliJ(14.1.7) on iMac with the same OS user name. This post says it's possible. But I cannot obtain permanent license on iMac, button click does nothing. In fact none of my menu items work, from File->Open to Help->Obtain Permanent License.

In a separate issue - the menu on MacBook has stopped working too. This had happened before installing IntelliJ on iMac. Trigger in this case was - Java was mistakenly updated to version 9. Reverting back to Java8, re-installing IntelliJ didn't help.

Please help to get the IDEs working on both the computers.

Permanent licensing option has been removed from the license server. Users should switch to JetBrains account if they want to use the permanent license.

Menu issue can be probably fixed by installing Java 6 on Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US.

IntelliJ IDEA 2017.3 with the bundled runtime is not affected.

Thanks Serge for prompt reply. Your reply raises a couple more questions though.

Permanent licensing issue: Can I keep using IntelliJ on my iMac without obtaining a permanent license (I am always online)? FYI, I have the permanent license obtained on MacBook.

Menu issue: I need to keep using Java8. Is there no way that I can get the menu items to work with Java8.
