Debugger hangs while using Intellij
Answered
Hi,
Whenever I run my webapp on intellij using native tomcat, and if there is any breakpoint, it takes a lot of time to move a step ahead or even complete the task but if there is no breakpoint, the response is very fast. I am facing this issue since last week and I haven't found any solution on any of the blogs online. When I hover on some variable, it displays "Evaluating" for a long time.

Hi, None of this is working for me. The problem is "step by step" debugging. If I mute breakpoints and run, it works fine, Causing problems only when I debug step by step. A simple assignment is also taking around 40 seconds to execute in step by step. There is something seriously wrong with my intellij configuration.
I have been using intellij in same manner for last 1.5 years or so and never faced any issue. It suddenly becomes problematic.
Do you have the memory view enabled? Does it help if you disable it?
Does it help if you disable this option?
Having the same issue since I upgraded to 2018.3.1. Tried the ^^^^^ above suggestion with no luck
most probably it is a different problem, please raise a ticket at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues
Even I am facing the same issue. My IDEA version is 2018.3.3
Is there any workaround for this?
Please report at https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA with the thread dumps/logs attached:

One workaround that seemed to be working is, I disabled JRebel. But, if that's the case what's the use of the extension?
Sai,
You could report issue to plugin vendor: https://zeroturnaround.com/software/support/
Having this issue since 8 months ago.
I can only use logger to debug since then.
It's a huge pain to have this problem with a paid version.
Hello Chih,
Does disabling JRebel help in your case?
I'm not the original poster, but I was having the same issues with 2018.3.3 and disabling the JRebel plugin resolved the issue for me. Now to file a defect on the JRebel plugin...
No, there's no JRebel in my plugins.
So I have nothing to disable.
Chih,
Please report issue on YouTrack attaching logs folder zipped (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241085-Locating-IDE-log-files): http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issues/IDEA.
