For best compatibility between IDEA for Mac, Windows, and Linux, we sometimes reuse shortcuts already used by the system. We performed research to find the balance between cross-platform compatibility and OS-specific features. Many other users work in 2 or 3 OSes, so they are OK with the conflicts. Since we have hundreds of shortcuts, it's impossible to find enough key combinations unused by all the OSes.
However, we also have users who would only use a single OS. These users would prefer to change conflicting shortcuts. For their convenience, we added a way to find and change conflicting shortcuts easily.
