Error while opening Intellij Idea ultimate edition - "Cannot connect to already running IDE instance. Exception: Process 6,260 still running".

IDE was running completely fine in the morning but suddenly gave this error when I tried to open it again to do some work. I can't understand what is causing this error and also all processes of IDE are closed in Task Manager.
If someone can help me, I would highly appreciate it.

This is a known issue in 2023.2.x version: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-330531.
The fix is implemented in the latest 2023.3 EAP build: https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/nextversion. Or if you don't wish to install the EAP release, you can try the workaround mentioned in the description of the issue:
Delete the
.lockfile located in the IDE configuration directory.
