Trying to connect to GitHub
Answered
I am new to IntelliJ IDEA and am using 2024.1 (Community Edition). I have imported my project and now want to connect to BitBucket. I have set up the repository. I have now followed the instructions to
Register an existing account by signing in to GitHub
Press CtrlAlt0S to open the IDE settings and then select Version Control | GitHub.
Click
Select Log In via GitHub.
Enter your GitHub credentials in the browser window that opens. If you have two-factor authentication enabled, you will be asked to enter a code that will be sent to you by SMS or through the mobile application.
When I select “Login via GitHub” the “Logging in…” is displayed and nothing else happens. I have waited several minutes.

Hi,
You mentioned you want to use Bitbucket but you why are you login via Github?
As for connection:
1) Can you loging to Github via terminal without issues?
2) Can you try to login via token inside IDE?
Additonally:
Please enable debug logs (Help - Diagnostic Tools - Debug Log Settings...) for the following categories
#org.jetbrains.plugins.github
Then please reproduce the issue and share the entire logs folder zipped as per https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241085-Locating-IDE-log-files
Hi Dino,
After many attempts and closing everything down I found that another window was opening that I could not see because I had other windows open. I was able to proceed after this. My apologies, I tried to cancel the question; however, could not find an option to do so.
Kind regards,
Glyn
