Inconsistent Behavior of Spacebar Toggle for Checkboxes in IntelliJ

Answered

Hi,

I’m experiencing an inconsistent issue with the spacebar toggle functionality for checkboxes in IntelliJ. Typically, pressing the spacebar should toggle the selection of checkboxes. However, as shown in the attached image, pressing the spacebar often triggers the search function instead.

I have not assigned the search function to the spacebar, and even after disabling all search-related keyboard shortcuts, the issue persists. Interestingly, the spacebar toggle works correctly at times but fails intermittently without any apparent pattern.

Could you please provide guidance on how to ensure that the spacebar consistently functions as a toggle for checkboxes? Any assistance to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi, sorry for the delayed response.

Do you by chance have Chinese, Japanese or Korean input method enabled in your OS? If so, then you might be facing the same issue as described in IJPL-158652. Please upvote that issue and follow it for updates, see this article if you are not familiar with YouTrack.

It might be helpful if you add a comment to that ticket with your IDE About info (capture it as text using the Copy & Close button in the About dialog). Thank you!

Thank you for your kind response.

I am also using the Korean input method on my operating system. I will vote for the issue.

Thank you.
