Flickering on IntelliJ and DataGrip (OS X)

Answered

It's like somebody is playing with the contrast setting, but it only happens with IntelliJ & Datagrip, other applications do not suffer from this.

What Java version do you use to run these IDEs? See https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/articles/206544879.

Can you provide a video of the problem?

I posted a video in this thread:

https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-147613

I reinstalled OS X, I even bought a new MacBook, but the issue remains. It's reproducible by connecting an external monitor over HDMI, placing IntelliJ on the external screen, locking and unlocking the MacBook. I think the computer needs to hibernate in between locking and unlocking. It's definitely a JetBrains on Mac issue, as the same thing occurs with DataGrip but no other program.

The current workaround is to drag the window to my laptop screen, dropping it, and dragging it back to the monitor again.

PS: Instead of putting the thread on answered, you should really follow-up on an issue.

PPS:

java version "1.8.0_112"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_112-b16)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.112-b16, mixed mode)

Thanks for the details.

You are free to follow up any issues. This tag is to show that someone is already dealing with the thread so that other support engineers do not touch it.
