I rather like Wikis, when the user base is well defined and controlled, and everyone agrees on whatever ground rules you come up with. (E.g. if the rule is to ALWAYS put some text in a new page, then the user base does so without grief. If edits need date stamps when changes are made, then the entries have date stamps without commando edits.)
They are a great way to do a mildly structured data dump - really good for a knowledge base a-borning. Eventually, you get the data well organized, but as a place for data to flow in while still coagulating, it is handy.
