Perforce integration all files showing as unversioned

Selected the root of my project, all options configured correctly for client as well as locations of p4 and p4v.
After refresh all files in project show as unversioned while clearly they are not as can be verified through p4v.
Perforce support is pretty unusable in this state, what would be the problem? I only have one depot configured.

Hello Samuel,

Please make sure that the client root in the clientspec is specified exactly
the same (including the slashes and case of filenames) as it's actually called
in the filesystem.

Is there a dependency on the pv and pv4 that you have tested with?
I'm using the latest version, could be a version issue?

I downgraded to an older version of the p4 client
