Team Foundation Server plug-in
Hi,
I would like to know when the plug-in for TFS will be ready. I am currently working on a Java & .Net shop and TFS could be the solution for both team.

Hi Dmitry,
IDEA 8 has now been released. Any update on when the TFS plugin will be available? There are teams in our department that has now moved from IDEA to Eclipse due to the lack of a TFS plugin. I'm hoping our team won't have to.

The current plan is to include TFS in IntelliJ IDEA 8.1, the EAP for which
will start in a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply. The 8.1 EAP is weeks away, so the release would be months away.
In the meantime, can we get a TFS plug-in "lite" that just does get, checkin, checkout, add, and diff? I understand your VCS system now does much more (shelving, etc), but something with just the basic operations would make a big difference.
This would at least allow us to transition from IDEA 7 w/ 3rd party TFS plugin to IDEA 8 with Jetbrains basic TFS plugin.

No, you can't get such a plugin, because we have a fully functional TFS plugin
for IDEA 8 sitting in our Subversion repository, and developing such a "lite"
plugin will require cutting most of its features. :)
We'll see what we can do to make this available faster.

Will you also be releasing a TFS plugin for Intellij 7.x, or will we be required to upgrade to 8.x to have TFS support?
No, we don't plan to release the plugin for IntelliJ IDEA 7.x.

Mostly timing. I expected the TFS plugin to be ready some time in the middle
of 8.0 development cycle, but it was finished almost at the end of it. Given
that we would need to have a 8.x version in any case, we decided not to bother
with keeping two parallel branches of the plugin, one for 7.x and another
for 8.x.

As an FYI, the TFS plug-in is currently available in the 8.1 EAP builds (http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/IDEADEV/Diana+EAP). So no need to wait.

My workaround is to use the svnbridge for TFS - which makes TFS look like SVN - that then works for IDEA 7

Seems like the problem is caused by the strong security (NTLM) configured at the proxy server you use. Fix is likely implemented, please check with the next EAP build.
