Until IDEA 8.0 is out of early-access, licenses for earlier versions will work indefinitely. If you're using a trial license, then naturally you're going to have to purchase a real license of one sort or another. If JetBrains let people keep getting new trial licenses, they'd undermine their revenue stream.
