"Performing VCS Refresh" hang
Hello,
I am using Ultimate 12.1.4 on a project using Maven and Git. Recently, I am unable to commit changes because IntelliJ hangs with a spinning box "Performing VCS Refresh".
I let it run for a looong time (over an hour) but it didn't finish.
I also tried invalidating caches and restarting. Didn't help.
What is going on and how can I fix/work around it?

any resolution to this. what a pain in th ass. we can't check anything in, WTF!
Please update to the latest release (12.1.6 so far). If the problem persists, file an issue in the tracker with thread dumps and log files attached.
we are using 12.1.6 problem persist. VCS refresh ran all night and is still running. very frustrating. could we have a cache problem. we use Macs if that helps.

Found possible issue.
I have two projects open. One is using SVN and the other is not. When I close the one that is not using SVN. The system is responsive and I can checkin once again.
My solution to this issue was to quit intelliJ as I run multiple apps and with different repos as @FrankRivera mentioned. Note for my Mac I had to force quit the app to get it to completely cleared out.
