Do you often want to see diffs for changed files right after running a VCS update? Do you find it too cumbersome the way you have to do it now? If yes, this issue is for you! Vote here:

This is definitely planned for Selena, but this requires quite a bit of new
infrastructure work, so it'll be implemented after the first milestone. Right
now IDEA doesn't know which revision of the file you had before an update,
so it doesn't know what to diff against.
