Had sometimes the same problem, IDEA won't start a second time under XP. How can we verify, which plugin is compaitble ? In the plugin manager nothing about compatibility is noted. Or does the plugin manager only list plugins, which are considered compatible ?

The plugin manager in IDEA does not list plugins which have been verified
to be incompatible. We haven't yet tested for compatibility all plugins available
in the repository, so you will still see some incompatible ones.

During my testing, the only plugin I found which caused IDEA to hang on startup
is the Wizard plugin.
