New icon

I appreciate the attempt at a new icon.

Personally I find it not as good and recognizable as the previous one.

Also, it doesn't work well at all on a blue surrounding such as the default
WindowsXP.

If there's a vote between this and the old one, I vote for the old one.

I like the new one. Maybe it needs some visibility adjustments, but I
definitely prefer it over the old one.

I agree, I think previous is better. In changelog for 2108 you can find only "Bugfixes"... Is new icon and logo BugFix? And when I first started 2018 then JRE in my project was newly parsed. BugFix too?

I agree... far too wishy-washy. Antialiasing is one thing, but it can
go too far sometimes....

I was actually talking about the new shortcut icon which is quite
similar to the old just more washed out, but now I start up the new
build and... what is this?! Dark blue box with an orange dot? Doesn't
float my boat I'm afraid. When I compare it to all the other icons on
my taskbar it just doesn't look half as good IMO.

I imagine it'll need adjusting, but I prefer it to the old one ...

By the way, I noticed the icon looks like a "JI", instead of "IJ". JetBrains IDEA?

Oh yes, I just noticed the new splash screen (it doesn't always shows up, there's a SCR open about that). The new icon does look good on the splash screen! It just need to be adjusted to look good on a taskbar too. Maybe make it lighter?

Hello Martin,

I like the new icon too. It looks a little fresher than the previous one. I'm not sure how I feel about the icon in the title bar, though. I think it could use some tweaking, but I'm all for introducing some new icons.

I have to agree that I liked the old icon better. Actually it is more of a case that I don't like the new icon. Moreover, since I'm looking for the trusty old IJ circle, I keep tabbing past it when I alt-tab :)

Ditto. I think the new icon is "odd". I don't understand whey they
would change it this late in the game. Like changing the name of an
established brand. It just isn't done.

And why have a completely different one to the shortcut one too?

Hello,

I old icon was much better.

2 cents.

Thanks,

The icon got into the EAP build by mistake, it's going to be different.

It got into build 2111 too.

Normally, program icons don't change on minor releases, only major ones.
