As far as XML "document" editing - I find XMLMind XXE one of the best.
( http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor ). I keep meaning to custom wrap it
as a plugin for editing DocBook documents within IDEA but keep getting
side tracked.

Might take a look at it in on the weekend.
