Ironically it's turned out to result in the opposite; as far as I understand, the error reporting appears to fail but in fact it doesn't and it also doesn't suppress dupes, meaning that if you've tried n times they end up with n identical error reports... :)

Yes, it has failed every time for me. Nothing in the log file (other
than error that triggered the submit dialog in the first place).
