I like most of the icons, though I feel like I've lost something (I think I had grown a bit attached to the old icon set).
The one that bothers me, ironically, is the Make icon. At first glance it looks like a Christmas present with a big red bow on the top. I had to mouseover it to see what it was (and I wondered why they had moved the Make icon).
Also, the Synchronize and Undo/Redo icons look too similar to me to distinguish quickly.
But I definitely like most of the new icons. Good job guys.

I think they are overall an improvement, especially being less flat and being generally more distinct, but don't the icons look a little too toy-like? I worry it could turn off a stuffy evaluator since they don't look as 'serious'.
One thing I noticed is that the debug icon is much less clear than before.
I think it should be either only a beetle or if they want it to have something in common with the normal one (i.e. run with debug, so to speak) then the "play" icon part of it should be the same with the super imposed bug.
Agreed! The new debug icon is a step backwards IMHO. All the rest I hardly noticed had changed (which is a good thing!), but the debug icon feels wrong somehow. I much preferred it when it was just a beetle.

+1
the new icons are great!!!
Maybe it looks like a Christmas present, because you will not be sure,
what you'll get when using the new GUI builder???
Tom
Except the App Server icon which is too big and once again leads to oversized buttons.
+1, me too :))

Yes, they are rather fun aren't they .... :)
I think the fact that it looks good, is one of the things that makes IDEA a pleasure to work with ...
Agreed.
Where is this app server icon? I can't seem to find it.
Just curious,
Vil.

Strange, I see it alyways, also my project is a simple desktop project
(no server stuff). Well, not always, because I gone back to good old
3.0.3.
Tom
Ah, now I see it. I had unchecked the option to display disabled tool window
buttons.

I like them. Right now it looks kind of funny becaus some icons are still the old style, like ant window and the project icon

Mmmm .....
I don't think so. Most journalists love the MacOSX user interface, and that looks more than a little toy-like.
i think they are ok too. They are a little winxp, osx, fisher price looking but that seems to be the thing to do :)
I generally like it.
