In Windows Explorer, click tools-> folder options. Go to the file types tab. Find the extension you want to change in the list (You can type the first letter of the name to jump down to it). Click change and then navigate to IntelliJ. If the extension is not there, click new and follow the directions. This could vary a little depending on which windows ur using. Also, in winxp, you can just right click and go to Open With-> Select Program, find IntelliJ in the list (or browse to it) and make sure always open with is checked.
