Icon Description

If you hover over the icon with your mouse, it should tell you what it is
.... if that's not enough, then yes, keep voting for that feature and if it
gets enough votes it will be implemented more to your liking.

For example, when I hover over a class icon or interface in the Packages
view, I don't see any help eventually popup for the core icon not to
mention any annotations on the icon.

For a new user, I would think that hovering for a bit on the icon would
ideally show the icon with the briefest explanation and, importantly,
any adornments the icon has with brief explanations. Perhaps some way to
get to the icon & adornment legend from there? So, for adornments you
might have the visibility open lock, whether the file is read-only, the
little "x" on the upper left of the class if the class happens to be
part of a hierarchy excluded, and so on.
