Dual monitors with ATI Radeon 9000?

I use idea on a dual monitor setup with a matrox g400. I have most of
the panels set to floating mode and have put those on my second monitor.
This works without any problem whatsoever.

Can you please introduce that purpuse of using dual monitor for IDEA?
Before i think that development on dual monitors is, then on one monitore
placed IDE window, and on other placed log file for example...

maybe i miss somethink...

In fact, the problem I'm seeing all day long on my dual monitors setup is
that often there are problems of refreshing of the components that are on
the second screen.
But I must admit that I have a chipset and a video card.
With a real dual video output card, this problem would not happen.
But anyway, except this little annoyance, that works great !
And it's a real pleasure to have such an incredible real-estate.

I use a Matrox G550 with two Viewsonic 22" monitors. Now admittedly I
don't spread IDEA windows across both screens but I have tried it and I
didn't seen any funny behaviour.

Ideally, for IDEA to take advantage of dual-monitors it really needs to
be able to have multiple editor windows open with different files in
each window.

Exactly what I'm doing - I've twin monitor setups at work (NT 4 under Matrox
G450?) and at home (XP dual-output motherboard on Shuttle XPC) for several
months.

I seriously can't imagine going back to single monitor setup for GUI
development. Even when now developing the GUI parts there's always some
help-file or reference I want open at the same time as IDEA.

For years there's been the urge to get a 5-10% increase in processing power
by buying the newest processor - by switching to twin screens I increased
the amount of information available to be processed by 100% in one go! An
amazing increase.

It makes a lot of sense :
2 ears, 2 loudspeakers.
2 eyes, 2 screens;

Next time somebody comes and tells me monogamy is the way to go, I know
what my answer will be.

PS: Anybody who's tried a home theater system knows 5 loudspeakers is a
minimun for a quality experience.
