Pycharm Is sluggish

Where do I start with trying to determine why PyCharm slows to a crawl.

I'm sure it has something to do with unresolved dependencies from imports.

Is there any flags I can enable for monitoring?

One way to get a speedup and help diagnostics: try "Hecto the Inspector", icon in the bottom right corner. Lower the level of your inspections or even go into power save mode. If those help, then it points a finger at the inspection machinery.

Of course you don't want to leave it there, as that loses a lot of functionality.

For investigating the reason of the issue please record CPU snapshot as described here (https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207241235) and upload to http://uploads.jetbrains.com/. Please, also specife the name of uploaded file.

To provide an informative CPU snapshot you should click on Start CPU Usage Profiling and then perform the actions which are causing performance problems, try to reproduce the performance problem several times while the snapshot is being recorded, then click on the Tools | Stop CPU Usage Profiling and save the snapshot file. When reporting the problem, please make sure to describe what you were doing in detail.

It definitely has something to do with inspection.

Our development dynamically brings all dependencies together and I found a more authoritative location for them all.  So used that rather than stitching it together myself.  It's me that it can impact the experience so much, it would be great to lower the priority of that work so I can still type.

It has been behaving for a day or so now.

I also have this weird thing where the direction arrows dont behave properly.  I will be hitting down repeatedly and every 6th or so press will jump four lines above.

Its a fantastic IDE, but slightly eccentric.

Havent had any contact from Jetbrains on my issue.

Just opened a single empty project, sitting indexing... something and sitting at 1GB of memory usage.

Can't open a document for editing as this "background" process is locking up the editor
